Pastor Johnna L Wheaton

I was ordained an elder in The United Methodist Church in 2007. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources from Virginia Tech in 1986 and my Masters of Divinity from Drew Theological School in 2000. I’ve served churches in New Jersey and West Virginia. I am a native of Virginia, but came to West Virginia just as quickly as I could. I live in a “divided household” as some West Virginians call it. My older daughter, Victoria, is a student at West Virginia University. My younger daughter, Patricia, is a student at Marshall. I am grateful to be serving God with the awesome people of the Canaan UMC!

Janet Means - Office Manager

Janet Means is a lifelong resident of Charleston and has served as a church Administrative Assistant for seven years. She loves being able to use her creativity to help enhance the role of the church in the life of its members. A real "people person", Janet enjoys the contact with the parishioners that her position affords. Janet is blessed by daughters Molly and Brittany, as well as pet rabbit "Audrey Hopburn". Janet is currently serving as Vice President of the Capital High School Boosters and is active in various fundraising activities.

Craig Hinchman - Director of Music

Craig is a music major at Marshall University and has served an internship at Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston under the direction of David Donathan.

Grace Churchmouse - Senior Editor - Canaan Chronicle

Grace is the senior editor of the Canaan Chronicle newsletter. Published each month on the ministries and other events taking place at Canaan, Grace also publishes an article reporting on the many instances around Canaan and throughout the community where good people are doing good things quietly. They do not seek glory, but Grace believes they deserve a pat on the back. Grace is active in both foreign and local mission work, having traveled to Siberia in Russia and has visited friends around the country that she has met at Canaan UMC.
