Youth Works Ministries
The purpose of YouthWorks is to provide life-changing, Christ-centered resources to help the church be the church. Now under the YouthWorks umbrella falls the following ministries. If you have any questions, please call our Service Center.
Canaan UMC hosted the Youth Works http://www.youthworks.com/ ministry group each year which brings students from all over the U.S. to West Virginia to participate in mission programs. Each Sunday, beginning June 14th, 60-70 students arrived in Charleston to repair homes, put on kids' camps, visit nursing homes and work in other areas of Christian mission.
On Monday evening, Canaan UMC presented a program for them that we hope gave them a good picture of what West Virginia is all about. Several members of our praise band shared their family heritage of coal mining and traditional Appalachian music in addition to the Christian praise music. We have developed a "game show" based on "The Price is Right" that taught them some basic facts about W.Va. in a fun atmosphere.
