![]() ...When I Visit Canaan UMC?Parking:
Visitors and persons with mobility concerns are invited to pull up to the Roane Street entrance and someone will be happy to assist you. There is also a small parking lot on Maryland Avenue across from the Kroger Store parking entrance. Street side parking is available all around the church.
Handicapped Accessibility:
Persons with physical disabilities are welcome to use Maryland Avenue entrance to access the elevator. Those who prefer a ramp may enter from Roane Street, to the right side of the building. A handicapped-friendly restroom is available just outside the right front doors of the sanctuary (beside the choir loft). Amplification devices to help persons with hearing disabilities are available in the back of the sanctuary. Please see a member of the hospitality team for more information.
Though our facility does not meet American Disability Association standards because of its age, we trust that you will find it easy to navigate. Should you need assistance, please speak with a member of the hospitality team or the ushering team.
What Should I Wear?
We know you might be worried about wearing the right thing when you come to church; we invite you to come as you are. Whether you are more comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, polo and khakis, or a suit and tie, you'll fit right in at Canaan. What Do You Have For Children? Our Nursery:
A nursery is provided for infants and toddlers. It is located at the back, right hand side of the sanctuary. Children's Church: Children’s Church will be offered during the school year (September - May). Any child in the fifth grade or younger is welcome.
What Else Happens On Sunday? Sunday activities vary with the seasons and with the church's liturgical calendar. Our members make it a habit to check the web calendar for weekly activities. Many activities are also posted in the Sunday bulletin and our "Canaan Journey" newsletter. The Canaan Kitchen also serves a free dinner each Sunday evening at 5:30 PM in the Family Life Center. You can also check out the Canaan News link for more information on how you to explore our many small groups. Where Can I Get More Information?
You are always welcome to ask the ushers or other Canaan members for more information. |
